Origin

This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.

Narrative

The rounded ice-covered buttress extending 14 km in SSE-NNW direction and 7 km wide, rising to 1000 m in the W foothills of Bruce Plateau on Graham Coast in Graham Land. Situated 12.3 km NE of Mount Genecand, 11.15 km E of Prestoy Point, 7.3 km SE of Vardun Point, 15.13 km SSW of Mount Dewey, and 41.15 km W of Kyulevcha Nunatak on Oscar II Coast. Two offshoots of the feature form Mezzo Buttress on the W and Strelcha Spur on the N respectively. Steep and partly ice-free NW, N and NE slopes. Surmounts Birley Glacier to the NE and Lawrie Glacier to the W. British mapping in 1976. Named after the settlement of Mitino in Southwestern Bulgaria.
